Planning Policy

What We Do

The Planning Policy team is responsible for the policy framework that guides development in Stratford-on-Avon District. Our work includes:

  • Developing the Council's planning policies
  • Helping local communities to produce community-led plans (including neighbourhood plans, parish plans and village design statements)
  • Monitoring housing, business, and commercial development within the District and the infrastructure required to support future development
  • Maintaining a sound evidence base to support future policies

Site Allocations Plan

  • Further focused consultation open until 5.00pm on Monday 18 March 2019 on the following topics:
    • Birthplace/Gateway Cultural Quarter
    • Quinton Rail Technology Centre
    • A46 Safeguarding
    • Employment Exception Sites
  • Two drop-in sessions for the SAP consultation are being held at Stratford-on-Avon District Council, Elizabeth House, Church Street, Stratford-upon-Avon CV37 6HX. Officers will be available to answer questions and provide more information. The sessions will take place on:

    • Tuesday 5 March from 1.00pm - 5.00pm, and
    • Wednesday 13 March from 9.00am – 1.00pm.

Development Requirements Supplementary Planning Document

  • Consultation open until 5.00pm on Friday 15 March 2019 on the following sections of the document:
    • New sections I. Non-Residential Buildings, and K. Holiday Lets and Caravan Parks
    • Revised sections H. Shopfronts and Retail, O. Parking and Travel, and R. Air Quality
  • On 10 December 2018, Cabinet formally adopted the following sections of the SPD:
    • Part A. Good Design, Part B. Character, Part G. Agricultural Buildings, Part J. Self-Build and Modular Housing, Part L. Open Space, Part P. Refuse and Recycling, Part M. Landscaping, Part N. Biodiversity, and Part U. Planning Obligations.
