- On Monday 7 September 2026 The Cabinet recognised and endorsed the Warwickshire Local Nature Recovery Strategy
- Statutory consultation on the Regulation 19 South Warwickshire Local Plan is now live and will run for 7 weeks from Tuesday 21 July until Tuesday 8 September
- The Site Allocations Plan has now been withdrawn and will not be progressed as a Development Plan document by the Council
- An Interim Policy Position Statement was endorsed on 1 June 2026 relating to the status of current Development Plan policies.
- The 2026 Core Strategy Review Assessment was published in April 2026.
- An updated Local Development Scheme was adopted in April 2026.
- As at 31 March 2025, the Council can demonstrate the equivalent of 2.21 years of housing land supply.
- On 13 January 2025, the Moreton Morrell Parish Plan was adopted by Cabinet.
- SDC's planning service underwent a Peer Challenge by PAS in October 2023. Recommendations led to a broader improvement plan, now in progress.
- In October 2024 we published guidance on the relationship between Neighbourhood Development Plans and the emerging South Warwickshire Local Plan.
What We Do
The Planning Policy team is responsible for the policy framework that guides development in Stratford-on-Avon District. Our work includes:
- Developing the Council's planning policies about the scale, type and location of development, protection of the environment and provision of infrastructure
- Helping local communities to produce community-led plans (including neighbourhood plans, parish plans, and village design statements)
- Monitoring housing, business, and commercial development within the District and the infrastructure required to support future development
- Maintaining a sound evidence base to support future policies
