Cotswolds National Landscape

The Cotswolds National Landscape covers an area which falls within a number of Councils' administrations, including areas in the south of Stratford-on-Avon District. The name "Cotswolds National Landscape" (CNL) is used in preference to the legal term "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty" (AONB).

The CNL is managed by the CNL Board. The Board produces a management plan for the CNL, but the individual Councils remain the Local Planning Authorities for each area.

On 2th June 2025, The Cabinet of Stratford-on-Avon District Council endorsed the 2025-2030 Cotswolds National Landscape Management Plan, for use as:

  • part of the evidence base for the emerging South Warwickshire Local Plan;
  • part of the evidence base for the preparation of relevant Neighbourhood Development Plans;
  • part of the evidence base for the preparation and implementation of relevant Council strategies, policies and projects;
  • a material consideration in the determination of planning applications; and
  • informing the development and delivery of the Council's services and activities.

The management plan and its associated documents can also be viewed on the CNL Board's website.
