Shipston-on-Stour Neighbourhood Plan has now been 'made'

At Stratford-on-Avon's Full Council meeting on 15 October, Members unanimously decided to ‘make' (adopt) the Shipston-on-Stour Neighbourhood Development Plan under Section 38A(4) of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 (as amended).

It is now formally part of the development plan and will be used to assist in making decisions on planning applications within the plan area.

'Yes' vote at referendum

On Thursday 6 September, voters in Shipston-on-Stour voted 'yes' to the Neighbourhood Plan.

  • 87.33% (931 people) of those voting said 'Yes'
  • 12.47% (133 people) voted 'No'
  • The turnout was 26.59%

Plan to proceed to referendum

The Shipston-on-Stour Neighbourhood Plan was independently examined during November 2017 and February 2018 . Following the examiner's report of 13th February 2018 (see ‘Specified Documents' below). The Cabinet voted on 2 July 2018 to proceed to referendum with the Plan, as amended by the modifications that are set out in the decision statement below.

Formal Submission consultation

In accordance with Regulation 16 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended), Stratford District Council held a six-week consultation on the Submission Draft of the Shipston-on-Stour Neighbourhood Plan. This ran from 2 November to 15 December 2017. The consultation has now closed.

Neighbourhood Area designation

The Shipston-on-Stour Neighbourhood Plan Area was designated by the cabinet on 8 April 2013. Shipston-on-Stour Town Council was the relevant body that applied to the District Council for designation. The area application documents can be found below:
