'Yes' vote at Referendum

On Thursday 28th March 2024, voters in Long Marston voted ‘yes' to the Neighbourhood Plan

  • 143 of those voting said ‘Yes'
  • 14 of those voting said ‘No'
  • The turnout was 32%

Plan to Proceed to Referendum

The Long Marston Neighbourhood Plan was independently examined between August and October 2023 and the Examiner recommended that, subject to some proposed modifications, the Plan should proceed to referendum. The District Council agrees with the Examiner's report and the Portfolio Holder for Planning and Economic Development at the District Council has endorsed the recommendation to proceed to referendum. The referendum was held on Thursday 28th March 2024.

There were three ways to vote in the referendum, in person, by post and by proxy.

  • In Long Marston the polling station is Long Marston Village Hall, Welford Road, Long Marston CV37 8RG

A number of documents (referred to as ‘specified documents' in the Neighbourhood Planning regulations) have been prepared to help individuals make a decision on how to vote, these are listed below.

Printed copies of the specified documents are also available for inspection at:

  • Stratford-on-Avon District Council Offices at Elizabeth House, Church Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, CV37 6HX. Normal opening hours are Monday – Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm.
  • Stratford-upon-Avon Library, 12 Henley Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, CV37 6PZ. Opening hours are Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm, and Saturday 10.00am to 3.00pm.
  • The Poppin Village Store, 14 Jacksons Orchard, Main Street, Long Marston, Stratford-upon-Avon CV37 8RU. Opening hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm and Saturday and Sunday 9am-12pm

Independent Examiner's Report

Following completion of the Independent Examination of the Long Marston Neighbourhood Plan, the Examiner issued their report to the District Council in October this year and this can be viewed below:

In accordance with paragraph 18 of The Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended), The Local Planning Authority must now consider what action to take in response to the recommendations of the Examiner and decide what modifications, if any, are to be made to the Plan in order for it to proceed to referendum.

Examination

Following completion of the Regulation 16 (Formal Submission) consultation in June this year, the Long Marston Neighbourhood Plan has now been sent for examination by an independent examiner, Dr Louise Brooke-Smith.

Formal Submission Consultation

In accordance with Regulation 16 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended), Stratford-on-Avon District Council held a public consultation on the policies proposed in the Submission Draft of the Long Marston Neighbourhood Development Plan. The consultation will run from 11th May until 23 June 2023.

Pre-Submission Draft Consultation

The Pre-Submission Draft of the Long Marston Neighbourhood Plan was published for a six week period of consultation between Monday 30th May to midnight 11th July, in accordance with Regulation 14 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended).

Long Marston Neighbourhood Plan Area Designation

The Long Marston Neighbourhood Plan area was designated in January 2017. Long Marston Parish Council was the relevant body that applied to the District Council for designation. The area application documents can be found below:
