Tanworth-in-Arden Neighbourhood Plan has now been 'made'

Stratford-on-Avon District Council resolved that the Tanworth-in-Arden Neighbourhood Plan was 'made' on 12th December 2022 . It is now formally part of the District Council's development plan and will be used to assist in making decisions on planning applications within the area.

'Yes' vote at Referendum

On Thursday 24 November 2022, voters in Tanworth-in-Arden voted ‘yes' to the Neighbourhood Plan.

  • 87.1% (364 people) of those voting said ‘Yes'
  • 12.9% (54 people) of those voting said ‘No'
  • The turnout was 15.89%

Plan to Proceed to Referendum

The Tanworth-in-Arden Neighbourhood Plan was independently examined between October 2021 and February 2022 and the Examiner recommended that, subject to some proposed modifications, the Plan should proceed to referendum.

The District Council has now endorsed the Plan to proceed to a referendum to be held on Thursday 24 November 2022.

The polling stations will be at:

  • Tanworth-in-Arden Village Hall, Vicarage Hill, Tanworth-in-Arden B94 5AL and
  • Earlswood Village Hall, Shutt Lane, Earlswood B94 6BZ.

The question on the ballot paper will be as follows:

“Do you want Stratford-on-Avon District Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Tanworth-in-Arden to help decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?"

Independent Examiner's Report

Following completion of the Independent Examination of the Tanworth-in-Arden Neighbourhood Plan, the Examiner issued his report to the District Council on 28 February this year and this can be viewed below:

In accordance with paragraph 18 of The Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended), The Local Planning Authority must now consider what action to take in response to the recommendations of the Examiner and decide what modifications, if any, are to be made to the Plan in order for it to proceed to referendum

Examination

Following completion of the Regulation 16 (Formal Submission) consultation in September this year, the Tanworth-in-Arden Neighbourhood Plan has now been sent for examination by an independent examiner.

Formal Submission Consultation

Tanworth-in-Arden Parish Council have prepared a Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) for their neighbourhood area with the help of the local community. The Plan sets out a vision for the future of the Parish and planning policies which will be used to determine planning applications locally. The Parish Council have formally submitted its plan to Stratford-on-Avon District Council for consultation.

In accordance with Regulation 16 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended), we are holding a consultation on the policies proposed in the Submission version of the Plan. The consultation starts on Thursday 22 July 2021 and closes at 5pm on Friday 10 September 2021.

Pre-Submission Draft Consultation

The Pre-Submission Draft of the Tanworth-in-Arden Neighbourhood Plan was published for a six week period of re-consultation from 10 February 2020, in accordance with Regulation 14 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended).

The consultation closed on Friday 27 March.

The Pre-Submission Draft was issued for re-consultation due to some amendments to the original pre-submission draft document, as follows:

  • In Appendix C (Page 27) – The labelling of the Views has been amended to tie in with the Inset Proposals Maps (Pages 6 & 7)
  • Policy NE2 (Page 22) - reference to Inset Proposals Maps added
  • Paragraph 2.9a (Page 9) - reference to Inset Proposals Maps added
  • Paragraph 2.23 (Page 12) - minor revision of wording

Neighbourhood Area Designation

The Tanworth-in-Arden Neighbourhood Plan area was designated in October 2015. Tanworth-in-Arden Parish Council was the relevant body that applied to the District Council for designation. The area application documents can be found below:
