Councillor Chris Saint has today, Friday 11 May resigned as Leader of Stratford-on-Avon District Council.
Cllr Saint has been a District Councillor for 20 years and Leader of the Conservative Group and the District Council for the past seven years.
Cllr Saint was first elected onto the District Council in 1998 for the Tredington ward.
Cllr Saint has been instrumental in the adoption of the Planning Core Strategy, successfully helped steer the District Council's recent positive Peer Review and leaves the District Council in a strong financial position.
Cllr Chris Saint says: "It has been a privilege to have been given the opportunity to serve as Leader of Stratford-on-Avon District Council. Despite the changing and challenging local government landscape in recent years I have enjoyed playing my part and found it hugely rewarding. None of what I have achieved as Leader has been achieved alone. I have been incredibly lucky to have a team of talented councillor colleagues and a set of dedicated council officers alongside me."

He grew up in Essex moving to Rugby and then Daventry and now lives in Tredington. He is a Chartered Electrical Engineer and worked as an Engineer, Lecturer and Consultant.
He is married to Linda and between them they have 5 grown up children.
The new Leader and Cabinet will be confirmed at the Annual Meeting of the Council next week on Wednesday 16 May.
Cllr Saint remains District Council ward member for Shipston North.
