Stratford District Council's Garden Waste subscription service starts this week on Thursday 1 April.

The District Council has received almost 35,000 subscriptions for the service since applications opened in January.

You can subscribe to the service at any time throughout the year, but the cost is still £40, so to get the best out of the service enrol now ready for 1st April. The cost is £40 per green bin regardless of when you subscribe with no pro-rata rate. New subscriptions will be due for everyone on 1st April 2022.

To subscribe and find out more about this service, please visit: www.stratford.gov.uk/gardenwaste

For residents that have not yet signed up for the new garden waste subscription service green your last green bin collection will be Monday 29, Tuesday 30 or Wednesday 31 April.

If you are really sure you do not want a green waste subscription in the future and want your current green bin removing please make sure you leave it out for emptying this week. To request removal of a green bin please visit: www.stratford.gov.uk/online-forms/green-bin-removal-request

To have unwanted green bins removed they must be empty, bins with waste in won't be taken.

There are no changes to refuse and recycling collections over the Easter Bank Holiday (Friday 2 April and Monday 5 April), so put your bins out as normal - https://www.stratford.gov.uk/waste-recycling/when-we-collect.cfm

The introduction of a charge is part of a package of measures to offset a cut in funding from central Government.

Householders who pay to have their garden waste taken away will be issued with a non-transferable permit to attach to their green bin.

Householders who choose not to take part in the scheme have the choice of home composting or taking their garden waste to a Household Waste Recycling Centre.

Warwickshire County Council offer discounted home composting bins on their website: Composting - Warwickshire County Council

Food waste will still be collected on recycling collection weeks, even if you don't subscribe to the garden waste service using a food waste caddy.  The food waste caddies should be put out for collection on what would be your scheduled garden waste collection day. Free food waste caddies are available on request by calling 01789 260628 or emailing: streetscene@stratford-dc.gov.uk
