This year, Stratford-on-Avon District Council would like to celebrate the commitment of local clubs, groups and individuals and their ability to adapt to the current circumstances.
2020 has been an extremely difficult year for many people and for long periods, sport and physical activity have not been possible or have been restricted. In these difficult times, sports and physical activity groups have shown their importance to the community, working hard to help people stay active in a variety of ways.
The Celebration of Sport will be an online showcase of the commitment of individuals, teams, coaches, teachers and volunteers. We would like to hear about how your club or an individual has adapted to enable sport and physical activity to take place, or has been involved with helping the community to stay active.
Applications will be accepted from sports clubs, physical activity groups and schools that are located in the Stratford-on-Avon District, or individuals who live or work with clubs/groups/schools within the Stratford-on-Avon District.
Cllr. Ian Shenton Operations Portfolio Holder at Stratford-on-Avon District Council says "This is an exciting online showcase, which highlights the very hard work of individuals and organisations around Stratford district who have encouraged and helped residents to keep healthy and active in what has proved to be a challenging year for all of us.
"I look forward to reading about the achievements of everyone involved and thank everyone for what they have done in their communities no matter how large or small."
Submissions should include information exclusively from this year, 2020.
Applications will be reviewed by the District Council's Active Communities Team, who will endeavour to use as many stories as possible.
The deadline for applications is Friday 15 January 2021.
