Stratford-on-Avon District Council is to consult on meeting times for Full Council meetings, a decision taken at the December Full Council.

Cllr Mark Cargill, Transformation and Digital Portfolio says: "All Councillors are expected to attend Full Council meetings as they act as both the main arena for democratic debate and involvement and for setting both the budget and the overall policy framework of the District Council. It is the ultimate forum for holding The Cabinet and Committees to account.

"Full Council generally meet five times a year and a timetable of other meetings is arranged around these dates. There is an opportunity for public participation at the meeting, in line with the Council Plan for 2019-2023, with a priority of putting the Districts' residents and communities centre stage. This means it is important to find out if the meeting times are convenient for all participants."

The consultation will run from Tuesday 25 February until Thursday 12 March and asks what start time would people prefer for Full Council meetings.

The consultation can be found on the home page of the District Council's website: www.stratford.gov.uk

Full Council meetings are currently fixed as a Monday at 2pm, as per the Constitution and agreed calendar of meetings - this consultation will be for the next Municipal Year's calendar of meetings (starting in May 2020) and the Constitution would be amended accordingly to reflect any changes following the consultation.
