Stratford-on-Avon District Council is delighted to announce the opening of its tourist office at 62 Henley Street, Stratford-upon-Avon this Saturday 15th May.
Since the closure of the Tourist Information Centre, operated by South Warwickshire Tourism, on 31 March staff at the District Council have been working hard to ensure that an alternative facility is available for visitors and tourists.
Several meetings have been held with key stakeholders and the operators of local attractions. In addition open meetings are being held so that former members of South Warwickshire Tourism and any businesses that have been affected are able to air their views and opinions, and a questionnaire will help identify any gaps in current service provision and priorities for the future.
Following a meeting of creditors on 28th April the Tourist Information Centre on Bridgefoot is being handed back to the Council and whilst refurbishment works are carried out, 62 Henley Street will provide a temporary facility. Operated as a partnership between the District Council and Stratford-upon-Avon College, the new facility will be identified as 'Welcome to Stratford-on-Avon' and will include sales of tickets to local venues and provide an important information facility for visitors and tourists.
