Change of Ownership

Applying for a Change of Ownership (Transfer)

A change of ownership is the sale of a licensed vehicle from one person to another. The licensing team must be notified of a change of owner of a licensed vehicle within fourteen days of it taking place.

To update a licence an application must be made to the licensing team together with the following:

  • Insurance for the new owner
  • V5 or bill of sale for the new owner
  • Appropriate fee

The application and supporting information should be emailed to licensing.applications@stratford-dc.gov.uk

Payments can be made by calling 01789 260979.

After you've applied

You will receive an email confirmation once you have submitted your application. This will contain an application reference and a payment reference for your records. If your application has been deemed valid it will be processed within 7 working days.
