Consultation on Updated Local List - 2026

Local List Consultation 2026

Following a review, we consulted on changes to our Local List of Validation Requirements. This list sets out the types of information that we may need to be able to successfully validate and assess planning and related applications. The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) sets out that local planning authorities should publish a local validation list for planning applications and review it frequently. The National Planning Practice Guidance (NPPG) states that a local validation list should be reviewed at least every 2 years.

Local validation requirements set out the information required when submitting your planning application. A validation list has two components:

  • the national requirements, such as the application form, fee and certificates
  • specific local requirements are known as the ‘Local List'

Following the consultation, the Council reviewed comments and amended the Local List. A summary of comments received in respect of the consultation, and the Council's response is available to view here.

The updated Local List is available to view here.
