Stratford-on-Avon District Council's Community Safety team is due to install two CCTV cameras on a new lighting column on Summerton Way as a response to residents raising concerns about anti-social behaviour around the alleyways near the scout hut at the top end of Summerton Way. To help respond to these concerns, the Council has been working closely with Warwickshire Police. The cameras are intended to help detect and prevent crime, support police enquiries where needed, and provide reassurance to the local community.

A full consultation took place in April 2026. Following a positive response to the consultation, the new CCTV cameras are due to be installed before the end of July 2026.

The scheme will include one Pan/Tilt/Zoom camera, which can be moved by CCTV operators when required, and one static camera to provide wider coverage of the area. The cameras will record 24 hours a day and will be monitored by the Council's CCTV team. Footage is retained securely and may be shared with the police where required for criminal investigations or civil litigation. The Council's CCTV arrangements are inspected annually by independent auditors, and the findings are published on the Council's website. Monitoring is carried out only by trained, fully licensed CCTV operators, who are able to contact the Warwickshire Police control room and officers on the ground when needed.

The cameras will be set up with privacy zones. This means that any areas of private property that may be visible from the cameras will be digitally blocked out, so they cannot be viewed by CCTV operators. The proposed location is a new lighting column at the top of Summerton Way, at the start of the alleyway leading to Alcester Road. The map below shows where the cameras will be installed:
