Summer Holiday Activities Programme

Day Camps

Hi-5 day camps take place during the Easter and summer school holidays and are delivered by trained activity leaders. The programme offers a wide range of activities including sports and arts for children aged 5-11. Leaders will supervise children throughout the day until they are collected by a nominated person.

Arts & Crafts: Children can be creative with activities such as painting, drawing and mask-making.

Indoor & Outdoor Sports: Games include football, netball, rounders, basketball and cricket.

Each day, children will be offered a range of activities to ensure that all children can find something they will enjoy.

Free Sport Fridays

Free Sport Friday drop-in activity sessions take place throughout the district every Friday for five weeks during the summer holidays.

These sessions are delivered by trained activity leaders who offer a range of sports and games including football, cricket, tug of war and giant snakes and ladders.

Sessions are free to children of all ages, but under 8s must be accompanied by an adult. No booking is required for these sessions.

Wednesday 31 July: 11:00-13:00 at Hodgson Green in Stratford-upon-Avon.

National Playday

Stratford-on-Avon District Council will host a National Playday event at Stratford-upon-Avon Recreation Ground on Wednesday 7 August. Free activities include face painting, circus skills, a climbing wall, bouncy castle and more!

This event is from 10:00 to 15:00 and will take place by the bandstand. All activities are free of charge and no booking is required.

Playday is a national event that encourages families to go out and play at one of the many events that celebrates children's right to play!

Playday (co-ordinated by Play England) aims to emphasise the importance of play in children's lives.

Frequently Asked Questions


All activity leaders have received emergency first aid training and child protection training. All leaders have also had an Enhanced DBS check.

How many staff will be there?

Hi-5 Day Camps operate on a ratio of one Activity Leader to eight children.

What should children bring?

Children should be dressed appropriately for activities such as painting, crafts and indoor/outdoor sports.

Bring a packed lunch and drinks (pack plenty as it's a long day!)

Do the children need to bring money?

No. Children can bring money for vending machines (may not be available at all venues), although staff will not be responsible for this.

Physical Activity Guidelines for Children and Young People

The NHS recommends that children and young people (5-18 years) complete 60 minutes of physical activity everyday. Activities that strengthen bone and muscle should be completed on three days a week. It is also recommended that children and young people minimise the time spent sitting.
