Have you ever thought about getting more involved in the community?  Would you like to influence the way local services are provided?  Ever thought about becoming a Councillor?

Well, Stratford-on-Avon District Council is hosting an event on Monday 7 November from 6pm to 8pm at Elizabeth House, Church Street, Stratford-upon-Avon to help people who are interested or thinking about becoming a local Councillor.

At the event you can find out what it's like to be a Councillor with talks from current Councillors on the challenging role of a Councillor.  Officers will also give a talk about the practical help and training on offer.

Councillors come from all walks of life and almost anyone can stand for election to their local Council, but you must be a British, Commonwealth or European Union Citizen, over 21, be an elector within the District or have worked or occupied premises within it for the previous 12 months. The next District Council elections take place on 4 May 2023.

You don't need any experience as full induction training will be provided and there is an ongoing programme of structured training for Councillors. You will also receive a basic allowance of £6,129 (2022/23).

For further information please contact Stratford-on-Avon District Council David Dalby, Electoral Services Manager on 01789 260228.
