Stratford-on-Avon District has today, Thursday 30 September, extended the Planning Performance Agreements (PPA's) for two crucial planning applications - South Western Relief Road (18/01883/FUL) and Long Marston Airfield (18/01892/OUT).

Both the District Council and CALA Homes have jointly signed the extended PPA.

The extension for these planning applications now runs until 31 March 2022.

Cllr Daren Pemberton, Deputy Leader and Place and Economy Portfolio said: "We have extended the Planning Performance Agreements to 31st March 2022 as both the applications remain under active consideration by Stratford District Council as the Local Planning Authority (LPA).

"Both these applications are crucial to the delivery 'Garden Village' at Long Marston Airfield and play a significant role in the wider Core Strategy. They both have significant complexities and public interest which is why it is important to ensure there is transparency and clarity in the PPA in terms of the timescales involved.

"This extension enables the applications to remain under active consideration whilst all the key issues arising are properly and fully assessed and evaluated as part of the planning decision making process."

A Planning Performance Agreement is a voluntary agreement between the local authority and the applicant which helps to:

  • Bring together the developer, the Local Planning Authority and key stakeholders to work in partnership throughout the planning process.
  • Ensure complex proposals progress through the process to mutually-agreed timescales.
  • Ensure appropriate resources and expertise are provided to advise on complex proposals.
  • Provide greater opportunity for dialogue through the planning process and help deliver high-quality development.
