Here are the decisions from the Stratford-on-Avon District Council's Cabinet meeting on Monday 1 December, which included the Electric Vehicle Charge Point Installation Proposals, Delivery of Climate Change Adaption Audit Programme, Quarter 2 Performance Monitoring Report, and the Warmington and Arlescote Parish Plan Update.
The Cabinet has approved the proposal of the installation of electric vehicles charge points on Stratford-on-Avon District Council owned car parks. A 2021 study commissioned by the Council found that approximately 32% of the District's greenhouse gas emissions came from road transport, including cars, taxis and vans. One way in which emissions arising from these sources can be reduced is through a transition to the use of electric vehicles (EVs). And for EVs to be used more frequently, infrastructure needs to be in place.
The Cabinet has approved the appointment of an external service provider to deliver a Climate Change Adaptation Audit Programme. £150,000 from the District Council's Climate Change Reserve will be allocated to enable this audit to take place.
Climate change adaptation refers to the process of building resilience to climate change and its impacts. Delivering climate change adaptation can range from the installation of flood prevention infrastructure and the planting of trees on green spaces, to the retrofitting of buildings and the creation of urban shading.
In addition to this, an exercise is being undertaken to embed considerations of how climate change will impact the delivery of Council services.
The Cabinet has approved the Quarter 2 (July to September 2025) performance achieved for the delivery of the Council Plan Actions and Key Performance Indicators. Four tasks (7%) have been achieved and four tasks (7%) not achieved. 51 (86%) tasks are either ongoing or on target, the high number not unexpected due to being only in the first half of the year.
The Cabinet has approved the adoption of the 2023/2024 Warmington and Arlescote Parish Plan Update, which will sit alongside and complement the previous 2018 plan. Parish Plans are community-led projects that identify and survey the assets, needs, opportunities, problems and solutions of a community.
The 2023/2024 Warmington and Arlescote Parish Plan Update was informed by two separate surveys, which were carried out simultaneously in April 2023. The Update does not seek to reproduce the whole of the original Parish Plan. Instead, it is a stand-alone document that should be read in conjunction with the original Parish Plan.
The following Cabinet agenda items have been recommended to Council for final decisions:
