A public inquiry starts next week, Tuesday 19 September, into proposals to build a number of dwellings at land to the rear of 54-66 Tiddington Road, Stratford-upon-Avon.
George Wimpy (Central) Ltd has appealed against Stratford-on-Avon District Council's rejection of the planning application to develop the site with 40 dwellings and ancillary works.
The District Council has refused the application on the grounds that:
- the proposals would neither preserve nor enhance the character or appearance of the Conservation Area but would severely detract from it;
- the proposals do not provide an acceptable urban design solution for the development of this site and fail to provide a satisfactory relationship with the character and appearance of Tiddington Road and
- the proposals are therefore in conflict with adopted policies and supplementary planning guidance as well as with relevant national guidance.
The inquiry, expected to last 2 days, will be held at the District Council Offices at Elizabeth House, Church Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, starting at 10am. A Government Planning Inspector will preside over the inquiry.
Members of the public may attend the inquiry and express their views - at the discretion of the inspector.
