Stratford-on-Avon District Council's Cabinet received the end-of-year 2 performance report at its meeting on Monday 1 June, with the report highlighting strong delivery against Council Plan commitments and continued progress on priorities for residents.
Covering the end of the 2025/26 financial year, the report shows that 67% of Council Plan actions were fully achieved, with a further 7% completed and continuing into future delivery.
In total, the District Council was working to deliver 58 priority actions during the year, covering areas including climate change, housing, community wellbeing and economic growth.
Achievements over the past year include:
- Launch of a new Council website to improve digital access to services
- Delivery of health screening programme, supporting early diagnosis for residents
- Hosting a major business conference attended by more than 200 organisations
- Implementation of a community grants scheme supporting local facilities
- Refurbishment of the play area at the Recreation Ground in Stratford-upon-Avon
- Establishment of warm homes support and cost-of-living initiatives for residents most in need
The District Council has also made significant progress on its environmental commitments, including:
- Delivering the Climate Change Action Plan, with most actions completed or under way
- Supporting biodiversity and nature recovery initiatives
- Providing schemes to support the planting of thousands of trees across the District, enhancing green spaces and supporting climate resilience
The report also highlights continued investment in communities and services, including:
- Delivering the Housing Strategy, with most milestones achieved
- Supporting vulnerable residents through targeted programmes and partnership working
- Strengthening engagement with town and parish councils
- Continued development of strategic projects such as the South Warwickshire Local Plan
The District Council has also made good progress in supporting residents with the delivery of the Growing Opportunities (Go) Plan, with around 90% of actions either completed or progressing well, helping to address inequality and improve life opportunities across the District. Work has also progressed to refresh the Go Plan for the period 2026-2029 in partnership with local organisations.
Alongside this, the District Council has continued to respond to the cost-of-living pressures, including delivering the Warm Homes Local Grant scheme and wider home energy support initiatives to help residents improve energy efficiency and reduce household costs.
Councillor Susan Juned, Leader of Stratford-on-Avon District Council, said: "This report shows the District Council has continued to make strong progress in delivering the priorities set out in the Council Plan. A significant proportion of actions have been completed, and we will continue to support our communities while taking action on climate change, housing and economic growth.
"We are in a strong position to build on this progress in the next year of the Council Plan, while continuing to address the challenges ahead. This includes completing ongoing projects and responding to changing local and national priorities."
The District Council's Key Performance Indicators also show good results, with 64% of indicators meeting their annual targets.
Performance improvements have also been achieved in core services, including a reduction in the number of days taken to process Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction claims, helping to ensure residents receive financial support more quickly.
