Our Clinical Waste Collection Service

If a member of your household produces infectious clinical waste (i.e. medical dressings for people on long-term antibiotics), we provide a weekly clinical waste collection service free of charge.

Clinical waste is collected weekly in yellow sacks by our contractor.

If you would like to be considered for this service, please contact us on the details below. Documentation is required from a medical practitioner (e.g. doctor, practice nurse, clinician, community health practitioner) to confirm that you meet the necessary criteria.

Please note:

  • Incontinence products and other personal waste can be put in your normal grey refuse bin.
  • Dialysis equipment can be put in your normal grey refuse bin.

Syringes, needles, sharps and prick sticks - sharps boxed up to 1 litre can be taken to these pharmacies in Stratford District. Sharps boxes over 1 litre should be returned to your doctor's surgery.

If you have a large amount of waste resulting from your medical needs, we may be able to provide you with an additional small grey bin (a charge will apply for this). Please view the Council's Fees and Charges Schedule for details of current prices.
