We appreciate that pets are an important member of the family, however it is important to understand that if you are approaching the Council due to homelessness, we recommend where possible for your pets to stay with family or friends. Alternatively, you may wish to access the following services.

Some charities run pet fostering or boarding schemes. These are for people who have to move into emergency accommodation or refuges for reasons such as:

  • Domestic abuse

  • The RSPCA & Blue Cross provide advice & guidance on how to seek support if you are a struggling pet owner
  • The PDSA is a charity that helps pets in need.
  • Find Pet Boarding provides details on local kennels & cattery's within the area.
  • Lets with Pets has advice on finding a tenancy that accepts pets.

Under the Equality Act, Landlords are required to make reasonable adjustments for tenants, who require a registered assistance dog or Emotional Support Animal (ESA) to live in a property. However, you may need to provide documentation to confirm your pet is registered.
