Cooling towers and evaporative condensers pose a risk of Legionnaires' disease. Advice on how to control it is available from the Health and Safety Executive.

The Notification of Cooling Towers and Evaporative Condensers Regulations 1992 requires the notification to the local authority of:

  • the installation of cooling towers or evaporative condensers
  • the removal of such equipment
  • significant changes to towers and condensers

The information contained in the notification is required to help in the investigation and prevention of outbreaks of legionellosis by regulating the use of cooling towers and evaporative condensers.

You must notify us should any of the above apply to your installation - please download a notification form.

You can also view the register of cooling towers within the district.
