Supply of the Electoral Register

Who is Eligible to be supplied with the Electoral Register?

Before supplying the register, we need to be satisfied that the individual or organisation making the request is entitled to receive it. Various organisations such as the British Library, Office for National Statistics, the Electoral Commission and the Jury Central Summoning Bureau to name a few, are all entitled to receive this information.

Various groups and individuals are also entitled to the information upon request, such as Elected Representatives, Candidates, Political Parties and Parish Councils.

How should this information be requested?

Any application must be made in writing and must specify:

• Contact information including which Organisation, Political Party, Parish Council etc. that they are requesting the information on behalf of.
• the document that is requested
• whether the request is made for current documents only or whether it includes a request for the supply of any subsequent documents, such as notices of alteration (although the option of receiving subsequent documents does not apply to candidates requesting the documents for electoral purposes, so they will not need to include this)
• whether a printed copy of any of the documents is requested instead of the version in data form

The Elections department has developed application forms specifically for the Supply of the Register, you can request an application form by contacting us at elections@stratford-dc.gov.uk.

Viewing the Electoral Register

Please note that it is only specific organisations and Individual's who are entitled to receive a copy of the Electoral Register. If you are a member of the Public and you wish to view the Electoral Register, the following rules need to be adhered to:

• Inspections must be supervised at all times.
• Handwritten notes may be made by those inspecting the full register. Any other copying or recording is not permitted, and is a criminal offence.
• A person inspecting the register is not permitted to use the information for direct marketing.
