Stratford on Avon and Warwick District Councils are joining forces to create a new shared Legal Team for South Warwickshire providing a full range of legal services to both authorities.

Stratford on Avon District Council already has a busy and professional legal team and we are expanding from 1 April 2022 to provide legal services to neighbouring Warwick District Council. 

We are seeking enthusiastic, adaptable and self-motivated Lawyers to provide solution focused and practical legal advice to officers and councillors of both authorities. You will specialise in one or more of the following areas of legal practice: planning; property; commercial contracts and procurement; housing; and licensing and regulatory. You will work in a supportive environment having your own varied caseload of legal work. You will be an integral part of the team advising senior officers and councillors on a number of high profile cases across both Councils.

We are also seeking two experienced Team Leaders reporting to the Legal Services Manager who will each manage a team of legal staff.

Local government experience is desirable but not essential provided you have an interest and commitment to local government work. We will accept applications from qualified solicitors, barristers and fellows of the Institute of Legal Executives.

Our Head Offices are located in historic Stratford upon Avon and Leamington Spa and we offer flexible, agile working arrangements including home working.
