Housing Benefit Fraud

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has responsibility for the investigation of Housing Benefit fraud.

Stratford-on-Avon District Council remains responsible for all non-Housing Benefit fraud allegations including Council Tax, Non-Domestic Rates, tenancy (sub-letting etc.), grants, procurement, internal and external fraud and corporate fraud matters.

If you have information that concerns suspected fraud in Housing Benefit, then please:

  • report Benefit Fraud online
  • telephone the National Benefit Fraud Hotline on 0800 854440
  • write to NBFH, PO Box 224, Preston, PR1 1GP

All referrals should ideally contain basic information such as the claimant's name or address.
