Bishops Itchington Neighbourhood Plan has now been 'made'

Stratford-on-Avon District Council resolved that the Bishops Itchington Neighbourhood Plan was 'made' on 27 February 2023. It is now formally part of the District Council's development plan and will be used to assist in making decisions on planning applications within the area.

'Yes' vote at Referendum

On Thursday 19 January 2023, voters in Bishops Itchington voted ‘yes' to the Neighbourhood Plan.

  • 274 of those voting said ‘Yes'
  • 40 of those voting said ‘No'
  • The turnout was 14.12%

Plan to Proceed to Referendum

The Bishops Itchington Neighbourhood Plan was independently examined between May and August 2022 and the Examiner recommended that, subject to some proposed modifications, the Plan should proceed to referendum. The District Council endorsed the Plan to proceed to a referendum to be held on Thursday 19th January 2023.

Independent Examiner's Report

Following completion of the Independent Examination of the Bishops Itchington Neighbourhood Plan, the Examiner issued his report to the District Council in August this year and this can be viewed below:

In accordance with paragraph 18 of The Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended), The Local Planning Authority must now consider what action to take in response to the recommendations of the Examiner and decide what modifications, if any, are to be made to the Plan in order for it to proceed to referendum

Examiner's Questions

The independent examiner, Mr Andrew Matheson, for Bishops Itchington Neighbourhood Plan has requested clarification from Bishop's Itchington Parish Council on several matters.

Examination

Following completion of the Regulation 16 (Formal Submission) consultation in April this year, the Bishops Itchington Neighbourhood Plan has now been sent for examination by an independent examiner, Mr Andrew Matheson.

Formal Submission consultation

Bishops Itchington Parish Council have prepared a Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) for their neighbourhood area with the help of the local community. The Plan sets out a vision for the future of the Parish and planning policies which will be used to determine planning applications locally. The Parish Council have formally submitted its plan to Stratford-on-Avon District Council for consultation.

In accordance with Regulation 16 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended), we held a consultation on the policies proposed in the Submission version of the Plan. The consultation closed on Friday 22 April 2022.

Pre-Submission Draft Consultation

The Pre-Submission Draft of the Bishops Itchington Neighbourhood Plan was published for eight weeks of consultation between 1 February 2021 and 28 March 2021 in accordance with Regulation 14 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended).

Neighbourhood Area Designation

The Bishops Itchington Neighbourhood Plan area was designated in April 2020. Bishops Itchington Parish Council was the relevant body that applied to the District Council for designation. The area application documents can be found below:
