There are several ways to order a bin or container from us, depending on the type of request you need to make. Please select the option below that best matches your circumstances.

Please note that, in some circumstances, we can provide a refurbished, reusable container at a reduced cost. This option is subject to availability and will only be displayed when stock is available.

All bins remain the property of Stratford-on-Avon District Council.

Bins for new homes

The builder or developer of your home is responsible for ordering all appropriate bins for new-build properties, before they are occupied. Normal fees and charges apply and they are chargeable to the builder or the developer.

If you would like to purchase new bins through our online form, please continue here. If you would like to purchase new bins through an invoice, please contact us directly to arrange for payment and delivery of the bins.

Bins available to purchase:

• Blue-lidded recycling bin (240 litres): £50
• Grey household (non-recyclable) bin (standard size, 180 litres): £50
• Grey household (non-recyclable) bin (smaller size, 140 litres): £42
• Kerbside (outdoor, 23 litres) food caddy: £10
• Kitchen (indoor) food caddy (optional): £5
• Communal food waste bin (140 litres): £42

If you are in rented accommodation, landlords are expected to ensure that bins are in place before properties are occupied by new tenants. Replacement and additional bins may be chargeable to the landlord or tenant, dependant on the circumstances.

Additional grey bins

Households are eligible for an additional grey household (non-recyclable) waste bin(s) if one or more of the following criteria is met, which causes extra waste to be generated:

• 6 or more permanent occupants in the household; or
• 2 or more children in disposable nappies; or
• residents with a medical need.

There is a charge of £44 per bin which is refunded if you do not qualify. Please allow five working days for us to process your application. If the bin does not arrive within ten working days of ordering, please contact us.

Other additional bins

If you regularly produce more recycling or food waste than your standard containers can accommodate, you can purchase additional recycling and food waste bins.

Garden Waste Bins

To subscribe to our garden waste service, and to purchase any garden waste bins, please visit our garden waste page.

The current charge to subscribe to our garden waste service is £50.

Replacement Bins

If your bin is damaged, we can provide you with a replacement container.

If our collection crews have damaged/broken your bin and you've received a card, you do not need to do anything - we will arrange for a replacement bin to be delivered to your property.

Charges for replacement bins are:

• For those residents on Council Tax Support or Housing Benefit (refurbished/reused wheeled bin only): No charge
• In cases of genuine damage by the Council's contractor (excluding wilful damage or loss): No charge

• Blue-lidded recycling bin (140 litres): £42
• Grey household (non-recyclable) bin (standard size, 180 litres): £50
• Grey household (non-recyclable) bin (smaller size, 140 litres): £42

Please note there is a charge to collect your unwanted bin, currently priced at £25.

Please note that we no longer stock 240-litre grey domestic waste bins and now only supply 180-litre grey bins. If you previously had a 240-litre grey bin and require a replacement, this will now be provided as a 180-litre bin, as part of our commitment to reducing non-recyclable waste. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Bin swaps

If you would like to swap the size of your container, please see our current prices:

• Grey household (non-recyclable) bin - 140 litres to 180 litres: £28
• Blue-lidded recycling bin - 140 litres to 240 litres: £26

Please make sure you leave your unwanted container somewhere visible, and accessible, for our crews to collect.

Lost or stolen bins

We understand that containers can go missing or be stolen. If you have a crime reference number, please submit this on the form.

Properties without bins

Some properties in the District (such as flats above shops / maisonettes and some terraced houses) cannot store or present wheeled bins for collection. If you do not have space for any bins, your household, recycling and food waste can still be presented:

• Household (non-recyclable) - rolls of black sacks are not provided by the council. Residents are advised to make their own arrangements regarding the purchase of sacks. A maximum of two sacks can be put out for collection fortnightly.
• Recycling - black recycling boxes are available free of charge upon request. These can be collected from the council offices, or may be delivered to your property in some circumstances.
• Garden waste - where a green bin is not possible, reusable green sacks can be purchased if you subscribe to the garden waste collection service. Please contact us if you would like garden sacks.
• Food waste - food waste can be collected using kerbside caddies.
