On 1 September 2017, Stratford-on-Avon District Council appointed Live & Local to facilitate its rural cinema scheme, ‘Moving Pictures'.
This means that Live & Local is now responsible for the rural cinema scheme administration and screenings with participating venues across the district.
Live & Local has grown in 23 years from a small pilot project in Warwickshire to a confident and effective broker for a range of arts activities across Warwickshire, Staffordshire, Worcestershire, Leicestershire, Rutland, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. Live & Local is a National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) of the Arts Council England (confirmed as part of the National Portfolio for 2018-2022) and already runs its own film screening service, called Big Picture Show, in other parts of Warwickshire and in Staffordshire, for which it has recently received British Film Institute (BFI) funds for a special programme.
Live & Local also manages an artist development scheme and other time-limited projects focusing on community / personal group development, rural economy and health and wellbeing.
In order to achieve its aims, Live & Local works within the following principles:
