Stratford-on-Avon District Council's CCTV system has received the British Standard Accreditation which recognises good management and practice for an eighteenth consecutive year.

Accreditation under British Standard 7958 follows a comprehensive assessment based on 120 separate criteria, with no recommendations made following the audit.

The District Council's CCTV is operated in partnership with local towns and parishes.

The CCTV service in Stratford-on-Avon District, is a 24/7 Public Space CCTV monitoring service which assists in the response to crime and anti-social behaviour within the District.

The scheme assists police officers and businesses in responding to crime as it happens by providing a live CCTV feed to the police control room and assisting in directing police resources to live events. This allows for a quicker response and better understanding of what is happening on the ground for officers before they arrive at an incident.

The CCTV service also provides high quality evidence to be used in judicial proceedings leading to convictions.

Cllr Natalie Gist, Law & Governance Portfolio says: "The work of the CCTV team in partnership with Warwickshire Police is vital in protecting residents from harm. The 24/7 team proactively seek to work with businesses and respond to calls from the public. Not only does the team work to coordinate responses to incidents of crime but they play a crucial role in responding to welfare and medical emergencies.

"The provision of CCTV technology and cameras has grown in Stratford-on-Avon District through obtaining additional funding and we thank all partners for their contribution.

"I congratulate the team on gaining this high accreditation for the eighteenth year in a row and their continued dedication to keeping the public safe."
