Basketball featured highly at the end of 2007, with a number of the District Secondary Schools taking part against each other at Stratford Leisure and Visitor Centre for the 2008 trophies.

The Annual event, organised by Stratford-on-Avon District Council, saw the following Schools take part in the Boys Under 13, Under 15 and Under 16 tournaments.

The Secondary Schools who took part were:
Alcester Grammar
Alcester High
Henley in Arden High
Kineton High
King Edward VI Grammar
Shipston-on-Stour High
Southam College
St.Benedict's High
Stratford-upon-Avon High
Studley High

This represented 10 out of 11 of our District Secondary Schools and 210 children taking part.

Congratulations go to Shipston High School, in particular Tony Meakin (Head of P.E.) who managed to win the U16s & U13s Boys' tournaments with each being crowned 2008 champions for their age.

More impressively was the fact that the U13s' team won every game, with the U16s losing just one, beating runners-up Alcester High in their head to head match as the points were level.   Similar congratulations also go to Southam High School who managed to win the U15s Boys tournament by winning 6 games and drawing 1, stopping Shipston High from securing a clean sweep.

The tournaments were played in good spirit and each competitor was awarded a certificate of participation. The full results can be found at; http://www.stratford.gov.uk/leisure/leisure-893.cfm
