Stratford-on-Avon District Council has achieved its Community Ambition - To improve quality of life locally so that by 2012 Stratford-on-Avon District is one of the top 10 places to live in the country.
Stratford-on-Avon District is now ranked 10th in the new Quality of Life Score a rise of 6 places from the previous ranking in 2006.

Council Leader Cllr Les Topham said: "This is another fantastic achievement for the District Council and this has been recognised by our residents in the recent Place Survey results with 92% of people satisfied with their home as a place to live and 88% of people in Stratford District were satisfied with their local area as a place to live. The challenge now is to try and build on these results and make sure people remain happy living here in Stratford District."
The Quality of Life Score is based on a number of factors, as listed above, on a variety of component composite indicators including the deprivation score (IMD indexed to the England score), health score (average life expectancy indexed to the GB score), crime score (total offences indexed to the GB score), affordability score (house prices and income), prosperity score (average total income indexed to the GB score), local amenities and natural environment scores.
The new Quality of Life Score for 2008 is 141.69, this has moved the District Council from 16th place with a score of 135.5 in 2006 to 10th (Rutland D.C. is 1st with a score of 148.63) and ranking is out of 375 Authorities.
The Council's Corporate Strategy sets out how it will lead the District forward, improving quality of life locally so that by 2012 Stratford-on-Avon is one of the top ten places to live in the country.
