Last chance for your views on the Housing Strategy for Stratford-on-Avon District

Stratford-on-Avon District Council is currently undertaking a full review of the housing strategy - Draft Housing Strategy 2009 - 2014.

The Draft Strategy covers the full range of local housing issues, and aims to:

1. Increase the supply of good quality affordable housing for local people.
2. Improve existing housing and help people live as independently as possible.
3. Prevent homelessness and reduce the harm caused by it.
4. Strengthen the support to local communities.

It has been written following extensive research and consultation with residents and partners to find out what is important to local people. It sets out how the District Council and its partners will work together to ensure that more people get the opportunity to live in good quality housing of their choice, with the support they need.

This Draft Housing Strategy 2009 - 2014 does not deal with the overall number and location of new homes as this is the role of the Local Development Framework - Core Strategy.

"Although extensive consultation has already taken place with residents and partners we would still like to know what people think about the draft, this is your chance to shape future housing in Stratford District, so please take a look at the Draft Strategy. We will be pleased to receive your comments on any part of the document or suggestions for target dates in the Action Plan," says Councillor Stephen Gray, Revenues and Housing Portfolio Holder.

The Draft Housing Strategy documents are available on the Council's website:  www.stratford.gov.uk/housing/community-202.cfm.

Hard copies of the Draft Housing Strategy to look at but not take away are also available in all the District Council Offices in Stratford, Alcester, Shipston and Southam.
