It has been updated twice. The latest update - Review 2008 - was adopted by The Cabinet on 15 December 2008 and should be read together with the original Housing Strategy 2006 - 2011.

The Action Plan within Review 2008 also contains the actions from the current Homelessness Strategy. We report regularly on the progress being made on each of the actions in the combined Action Plan - the position at August 2009 was reported to the Council's Housing Advisory Panel.

A revised and expanded housing strategy for 2009 to 2014
We have undertaken a full review of the housing strategy. This was necessary to allow us to:
Draft Housing Strategy 2009 - 2014 was published for public consultation on 16 September 2009. The consultation period finished on 27 October 2009. The Council is grateful to everyone who responded with their comments and suggestions for how the document could be improved.
The content of Housing Strategy 2009 - 2014 has been fully revised to reflect most of the comments made in response to public consultation and the further discussions the Council has had with key partners.
Housing Strategy 2009 - 2014 sets out how the Council and its partners will work together to ensure that more people get the opportunity to live in good quality housing of their choice, with the support they need. It does not deal with the overall number and location of new homes as this is the role of the Local Development Framework - Core Strategy.
Housing Strategy 2009 - 2014 includes a high level action plan with 29 actions.
The revised text and action plan was endorsed by Stratford District Partnership Core Group on 8 December 2009. The Strategy is currently going through the formal approval process within the District Council.

There are three background documents to Housing Strategy 2009 - 2014. The first is the Equality Impact Assessment - this describes the impact of the new strategy on low income households and on each equality 'strand' (that is race, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, and disability).
The second background document is the Consultation Log. This describes in detail the contribution made by partners and the general public to the drafting of the new strategy.
The third background document is the Evidence Log. This describes the statistical information, new research, and the other strategies and policy documents that were taken into account in drafting the new strategy.
It is hoped that Housing Strategy 2009 - 2014 will be adopted, and replace Housing Strategy 2006 - 2011, by March 2010.
