In line with the Government's latest Coronavirus measures for another national lockdown, from Thursday 5 November 2020 the following Stratford-on-Avon District Council services will close:

  • Elizabeth House (closed to the public)
  • Visitor Information Centre
  • Shopmobility
  • Health walks cancelled until further notice

As with the first national lockdown, arrangements will be made for residents in an emergency, such as homelessness, to speak by a phone link in the outer lobby to a member of staff at our office.

Our contact centre remains open for residents to continue to speak by telephone to staff at our office on 01789 267575 and customers will still be able to access many services online at www.stratford.gov.uk

Although the District Council offices at Elizabeth House maybe closed to the public, the staff will still be working and providing services.  The District Council will maintain as many services as possible during the lockdown and all will be reinstated when the lockdown is lifted.

Toilets across the district will remain open.

The district leisure centres in Alcester, Shipston, Southam, Stratford and Studley will also close on Thursday.

The COVID-19 social distancing measures in Stratford town centre on Bridge Street will remain in place, but they will be removed from the High Street, where temporary road closures were in place.

The Friday Charter Market will continue in Stratford-upon-Avon but will be limited to selling food and essential items only. The markets on Saturday and the Waterside Market on Sundays will not be operating.

For the shops offering a click and collect service or restaurants offering take away services, residents are reminded that they can continue to park in Bridgeway car park free for the first hour.

The Government has said there will be some support for business but that the details will not be available prior to Lockdown on 5 November 2020. We would recommend that businesses continue to monitor our website / social media and press coverage for further announcements.

There is also the Local Council Tax Support Scheme and residents are asked to call the District Council on 01789 267575 if they need assistance with Council Tax payments.

Cllr Jo Barker, People Portfolio at Stratford-on-Avon District Council says: "I want to thank all our staff at the District Council for the smooth transition into Lockdown 2.0. I know we will get all the government grants out to eligible people as speedily as we did last time.

"Before this (Lockdown 2.0), our rate of COVID transmission was just beginning to fall and hospitalisation of cases is below levels in the spring. We are well placed for December 2nd to resume a more normal life and get ready for Christmas. Please help us all bounce back by doing your Christmas shopping locally!"
