This year, Sport Relief takes place from Saturday 17 to Friday 23 March, for a week filled with fundraising events.

Sport Relief aims to encourage people to be more active whilst raising life-changing sums of money for people across the UK and the world.

For 2018, Stratford-on-Avon District Council will be partnering with Everyone Active at Stratford Leisure Centre to deliver a variety of challenges to raise money to support Sport Relief.

Sport Relief's focus is to motivate people to be active no matter what their level of ability in order to raise money.  The money raised by Sport Relief is used to tackle a wide variety of issues around the world and in the UK. This year rather than one day, Sport Relief wants the country to get involved with a whole week of challenges.

Sport Relief is encouraging people to take part in the 'Nation's Billion Steps Challenge'; the task involves the nation completing at least one billion steps a day, each day from 17 to 23 March.  The free Sport Relief mobile app will allow individuals to track their steps and contribute to the daily one billion step target.  The app will also enable people to join challenges and donate to Sport Relief.

Everyone Active staff and the Stratford-on-Avon District Leisure team are challenging the District to take part in the 'Stratford District League' as part of the Nation's Billion Steps Challenge.  While competing against others to see who can complete the most steps, the league aims to achieve an overall step target of 7,478,592 steps.  This is the equivalent to 3,541miles, the distance from Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire to Stratford, Ontario in Canada. Walk, jog or run to help to reach the target and raise money for Sport Relief.  Don't forget to download the app and join the challenge or your steps won't count!

Everyone Active is attempting to row the length of the '10 Longest Rivers in the UK' on indoor rowing machines during the Sport Relief week.  The 10 longest rivers measure a grand total of 1,458miles - and they need your help to reach this target!  Members can sign up to the challenge with one of the Fitness Motivators at Stratford, Southam and Shipston Leisure Centres.  Take part on just one day or see how far you could complete over the week!  Not a member? Contact Everyone Active to enquire about a casual gym visit.

The Leisure team at Stratford-on-Avon District Council has invited secondary schools in the District to take part in a 'Virtual Rowing Competition'.  Pupils will compete at their respective schools in their year groups in teams of up to 10 to see how far they can row on a single machine in 30 minutes.  The Leisure team will compile the results and release the details of the winning teams on Thursday 29 March 2018.  Will the schools be able to beat the distance covered by the leisure centre users?

Staff from Stratford-on-Avon District Council and Everyone Active will also be taking each other on in a tri-sports competition.  Teams will compete in 5-a-side indoor hockey, football and basketball at Stratford Leisure Centre during the Sport Relief week.  Which team will come out on top?
