A number of fitness classes and sessions have been appropriately designed to suit senior citizens without compromising on the health and wellbeing benefits.

  • 10.00am - Walking Netball
  • 11.30am - Senior session (badminton & table tennis)
  • 1.30pm - Inclusive tennis (for those with long term health conditions)
  • 2.00pm - Good Boost Land
  • 3.00pm - Public swimming

Throughout the day there will also be:

  • 10.00am - 2.00pm - Wellness suite inductions
  • 10.00am - 4.00pm - Gym entry (will need to have completed online induction)

Local organisations are also supporting the event including Stratford Fire Station - promoting free fire safety checks. A Policy Officer for Communities and Social Inclusion from Stratford-on-Avon District Council will also be available to answer questions on the day.

Adam Mundy, Regional Contract Activity & Wellbeing Manager at Stratford Leisure Centre explains, "We are delighted to welcome senior citizens into our centre for the open day and really encourage people to come along.

"We really urge those with elderly parents, grandparents or even a neighbour that they know - to come along and see what we have to offer.

"It's a fantastic opportunity to try something new and be part of a community."

Cllr Lorraine Grocott, Environmental and Neighbourhood Services Portfolio said: "This is a great initiative to encourage older people to get active, increase social interaction and have fun whilst doing so.

"Staying active is extremely important, even the smallest amount of physical exercise can have a huge impact on our quality of life. Good physical and mental health will help older people enjoy later life."

Customers are able to book sessions in advance through the Everyone Active website or app, or by contacting Stratford Leisure Centre directly on 01789 268826 and speaking to the reception team.

With more than 220 centres across the country, Everyone Active offers activities for all ages, as well as specialised classes designed to appeal to older people.
