People across Stratford-on-Avon District are being asked to make Christmas extra special for local rescue dogs.

Stratford-on-Avon District Council's Dog Warden, Lisa Parkes, has organised a shoebox appeal for those dogs that find themselves in rescue centres over the festive period.

The idea is simple from now until Monday 14 December – fill a shoebox with doggy delights and drop it into the Council Offices in Stratford-upon-Avon during opening hours or Jollyes Petfood Superstore at the Maybird Centre, Stratford-upon-Avon.

The shoeboxes will then be distributed to local rescue centres in time for Christmas.

Items to include: food, toys, treats, balls – all donations will be warmly received including blankets and dog-coats.

Lisa Parkes, Stratford District Council Dog Warden says: “Please find it in your hearts to support our extra-special Canine Christmas Shoebox Appeal.  Help spread a little magic to our abandoned and unwanted strays this Christmas."
