The Halford Parish Council Election due to take place during the 2015 General and Local Elections on Thursday 7 May 2015 has been countermanded (cancelled) due to the sad death of Mr Colin Black, one of the candidates standing.

The poll will not now take place on Thursday 7 May in relation to this Parish, but the Parliamentary and District Council Ettington ward election will still take place.

Paul Lankester, Returning Officer says: “This is a sad time for Mr Black's family and friends and I extend my condolences to them.  Mr Black was a great servant to the Halford community.  I am following the protocol as set out by law and will announce a new date for the elections in the near future and new poll cards will be issued to let people know the date (if contested)."

A further announcement about the new election timetable will be made in due course and will be held within 35 days of Thursday 7 May.

The other candidates who have already been nominated will not need to be nominated again and, by law, they are not allowed to withdraw their nominations. As a result of the postponement of the poll, there will be an opportunity for other candidates to put their names forward.
