The Warwickshire Waste Partnership would like to see more people composting at home and offering the compost bins for £5 is a great incentive but it is important that residents know how to compost before starting.
To try and ensure people are successful at composting Warwickshire County Council are running a workshop in Stratford to offer advice and information on home composting with the added sweetener of a compost bin for £5 to anyone attending:
Methodist Church Hall, Old Town, Stratford-upon-Avon
Thursday 26th March
11.00am - 12.00pm
Increasing amounts of food and garden waste are found in Warwickshire's grey wheelie bins which cost £80 a tonne for the County to dispose of and £40 when disposed of in the green bin. But home compost costs nothing in disposal costs and provides a fantastic soil conditioner. Each compost bin used to its full potential will divert 150kg per year saving the tax payer £12 for every year it is used.
Whether you are new to composting or just need a few hints and tips the workshops are there to help you.
To book a place residents can go online at www.warwickshire.gov.uk/composting, email waste@warwickshire.gov.uk or call Waste Management on 01926 412593. A payment of £5 is required at the time of booking to secure your place.
