An early morning treat is in store this weekend for south Warwickshire residents, as the National Big British Breakfast day hits Stratford-upon-Avon.
On Saturday 5 February, Stratford's Rother Market hosts the regular farmers' market, but restaurant Truly Scrumptious, also in Rother Market, has agreed to cook all locally bought sausages, bacon, eggs etc.
The aim of the event is to encourage shoppers to buy local produce, with the focus on traditional cooked breakfast on Saturday.
National Big British Breakfast day is supported by Stratford-on-Avon District Council, which helped set up the first farmers' market in Rother Street in June 1999.
To participate in farmers' markets, three criteria must be met:
Producers must be local - normally defined as being within a 30 mile radius of the market site;
Producers must sell their own produce and it must have been grown, reared, caught, brewed, pickled, baked, smoked or processed by the stallholder;
And the person behind the stall must either be the producer, a close family member or an employee directly involved with production.
