The Greig Centre in Alcester will be hosting free Hiphop, Drum n Bass and Breakbeat Music workshops next Tuesday to be followed that evening by a concert by local bands playing live.

Nigel Clark, who runs Hijack Recording Studio in Redditch, has teamed up with Advantage Alcester through their AWM Market Town Initiative funding to run a pilot afternoon of workshops at the Greig Hall for local youth from 1 to 5 pm next Tuesday 25 October. The market town project is supported by Stratford-on-Avon District Council.

Participants will be given free admission to a gig the same evening at the Greig Hall starting at 7pm when local bands will be brought together to showcase Alcester's talented musical youth.

Nigel is hopeful, subject to successful fund raising, that this will set the scene for a programme of workshops that will create opportunities for Alcester's youth to explore popular forms of music and make the most of their talents.

Nigel Clark said:

" Everyone deserves a chance to shine. We are looking for local acts to play in the evening and may even try and get a couple of the mc's to have a battle live on stage.  This should be a great day for the young people of Alcester an d hopefully the community as a whole."

Nigel has been working with young people locally for about two years and has received funding for various musical activities.  He has worked on lots of different musical genres and enjoys the eclectic way of trying different things out; always aiming to be involved in music making that is enjoyable and inspiring.
