Travel has just got easier!

Stratford-on-Avon District Council's social transport scheme, Community Links, is adding another mini-bus to its fleet making travel for residents even easier.  

Currently 4 mini-buses operate, with full disability access, giving those stuck for transport a much needed lifeline to access facilities and maintain independent living throughout this large and rural District.  

Stratford-on-Avon District Council and partners* will be unveiling their fifth mini-bus next week, as part of the ever increasing success story that is Community Links.  

Currently the scheme helps residents of Stratford-on-Avon District who are stuck for transport get to local destinations on set weekdays between about 9.15am and 2.45pm.

The scheme is aimed at those who:

• Have a genuine need for local transport
• Cannot access public transport because of mobility problems
• Live in a rural isolated location with no other form of transport available  

Successes of the scheme include:  

• Over 24,000 passenger journeys completed since launch in April 2006
• Over 1000 people now registered with the project
• A fifth vehicle to join the scheme sponsored by Stratford Town Trust starts April 2008
• Overall satisfaction rating of 96% in a recent survey of service users 98% of Community Links users rate the service 'value for money' and a lifeline to them maintaining their independence.
