On Tuesday 5th December 2006 Stratford-on-Avon District Council will receive a visit from the judges of the Digital Challenge competition, a Central Government scheme to tackle social and digital exclusion.

Stratford-on-Avon District Council won a place as one of only ten national finalists earlier in the year and are competing for a grant that could bring the authority £7m to improve the lives and services of its citizens and visitors.

The judge's day will include a tour of the district and meetings with many of the Council's partners, including groups that represent the young and elderly, local school children, voluntary groups, health care, education and learning and the police.

The visit will set the scene for the final Digital Challenge bid due for submission in January 2007.

The District Council has already won two grants totalling £250,000 to help develop its bid, with the events and hospitality for the visit day itself all being sponsored by local businesses and community groups.

For further information on the Digital Challenge or details of the judges visit, please contact Balvinder Heran, Head of Change and Performance at Stratford-on-Avon District Council on 01789 260470.
