The Future of Food can be Fun - This is the message from Stratford-on-Avon District Council, Warwickshire Education  Business Partnership and South Warwickshire Dietetic Service together with the Bell Inn, Welford-on-Avon.

On 10 January the 3F challenge - The Future of Food Can be Fun was launched at Studley High School.  Pupils were given professional briefings on topics such as the hospitality industry, budgets, customer care, healthy eating, food safety and marketing.  150 Studley High School pupils took part in the challenge.

The winning team has been invited to turn their creation into reality at the award winning Bell Inn Welford-on-Avon on Monday 29th January.  On the evening guests will include parents, teachers and VIP's including the Chairman of the District Council, Cllr Mike Brain and partner organisations involved in the event.  The students will be involved and working in all areas in the pub; from front of house to actually preparing and cooking the food in the kitchen.

"The intention of the 3F challenge is to create an awareness of the hospitality industry and to stimulate interest from a young age in food.   As cooking does not feature in the curriculum, this initiative helps provide the pupils with cooking and food safety skills." says Colin Ombler, from The Bell Inn.

"This is an exciting opportunity for the pupils to gain an insight into the hospitality industry with hands on experience.  And it was great to see the enthusiasm and effort that the Studley High School students put into the day."

It is hoped to roll out the initiative to other schools in the Stratford-on-Avon District some time in the future.
