Food certainly is the F-word next week as winners of the 3F School Challenge receive a unique opportunity of running their own pub for a glittering VIP event.

The 3F challenge - The Future of Food is Fun, is an initiative from Stratford-on-Avon District Council and partners* aimed at getting the District's young people interested in food.

As part of a business enterprise day, 70 pupils from Shipston High School took part and received professional briefings on topics such as the hospitality industry, budget, customer care, healthy eating, food safety and marketing.

The winning team from Shipston High School, "Kiwi", has been invited to whip up some culinary magic in the award-winning Bell Inn on Monday 3 December, working in all areas of the pub; from front of house to food preparation and cooking.

Guests will include VIP's, including the Chairman of Stratford-on-Avon District Council, Councillor Stuart Beese, parents, teachers and partner organisations involved in the event.

Studley High School took part in this superb event at the beginning of this year and it is hoped to roll out the initiative to other schools in the District next spring.

This is a significant project particularly in light of the national rise in obesity, with 1 in 5 in the Stratford District classed as obese (West Midlands Public Health Observatory).
