Stratford-on-Avon District Council Statement - unlawful development at the Darlingscott cross roads on the A429

Stratford-on-Avon District Council's investigations into the appropriate course of action to take in respect of the unauthorised traveller encampment at the Darlingscott cross roads on the A429, near Shipston-on-Stour, Warwickshire are continuing.  Information as to the decision on the course of action being taken by the Council will be given via further press statements over the next few days. Press statements will be released after action has occurred.

Stratford-on-Avon District Council can confirm the following;

  • A planning application for the Darlingscott cross roads site on the A429 near Shipston-on-Stour was received by the Council on Thursday 20 March at 4.45pm
  • The application was for 16 caravan pitches, 16 hard standings and 16 utility blocks 
  •  The application was incomplete and cannot be processed in its current state
  • Stratford-on-Avon District Council has commissioned a specialist planning barrister to advise it, and actions will be taken in accordance with the advice given.  As stated above these actions will be made clear in the near future. In order to avoid disadvantaging its position, the Council will not release further information before taking action.
