The opening in Alcester of a section of a cycleway created on the route of an old railway line will coincide, next week, with National Bike Week.

The need for this facility was originally identified, following public consultations as part of the "Bikes in Alcester" project by the Market Town group Advantage Alcester and has been delivered by Stratford-on-Avon District Council and its partners Warwickshire County Council.

In addition to the railway line, the route links the Birmingham, Stratford and Kinwarton Farm Roads, providing opportunities for both recreation and commuting in Alcester town.

As both a District Council Ward Member and Mayor for Alcester, Councillor Susan Adams will be formally opening the route next Tuesday, 17 June.
