Stratford-on-Avon District Council would like to remind residents that they will need the correct money for the pay and display machines in all District Council car parks.

"It's unfortunate but following an incident involving the change machines within our car parks (at the Recreation Ground and Riverside) the District Council has had to remove the machines, which will mean that residents and visitors alike will have to have the correct money available," says Robert Walsh, Head of Community Services.

"An incident happened earlier this month when a substantial amount of money was taken from a change machine in Stratford.  There is still an on-going investigation but the decision was made to remove the machines to prevent anything like this happening in the future."

Car parking charges in all District Council car parks, where applicable, apply 24 hours daily,
7 days a week, although Blue Badge holders and motorcycles can park for free.

The Pay and Display machines accept the following coins: 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2.  If you find that the Pay & Display machine is not working, please try and use another machine. You can report faulty equipment by telephoning free phone 0800 413685.

Also if you are, 65 years old or over, are a Stratford-on-Avon District resident and the driver of a vehicle, you are entitled to apply for a Concessionary Parking Pass.  The Pass will entitle you to park FREE OF CHARGE in the Recreation Ground and Swans Nest Lane car parks, in Stratford-upon-Avon, subject to available spaces.

If you would like a Concessionary Parking Pass, you will need to apply in person, bringing with you, your valid driving license and providing your car registration number at any of the District Council offices in Stratford, Alcester, Shipston and Southam.
