Stratford-on-Avon District Council's new Public Health Matters newsletter has hit the streets.

The Environment Service covers many issues relating to health and public safety throughout the District from Food Hygiene Awards (scores on doors) to street cleaning and each edition focuses on different topics.  Many of these are delivered outside of the public gaze and so the protection provided goes un-noticed.

This edition highlights public health and safety concerns such as food poisoning, food complaints arising from shops, restaurants and takeaways and how the service works with industry to improve standards.

Public Health Matters is sent to local businesses and Councillors, but is also available to the public. For your copy of the most recent edition of "Public Health Matters" click on the link www.stratford.gov.uk/business/business-2268.cfm

As part of its responsibility as a Regulatory Authority, Stratford-on-Avon District Council's new newsletter addresses some aspects and questions raised about how it operates and protects the general public as well supporting local businesses.

"I believe that most people are unaware of the regulatory, advisory and general public health work of the service, and therefore are not aware of the officers' work." Says Councillor Simon Jackson, Executive Portfolio Holder for the Environment.

"The advice given by officers helps businesses and members of the public understand and cope with increasing regulatory burden attached to environmental health."
