Stratford-on-Avon District Council will be carrying out large scale health and safety works to remove trees identified to be a risk to the public highway along the Shipston Road in Stratford next week.
The works are along a 250metre stretch from the Seven Meadows Road alongside the Tramway heading towards town and will start on Monday 26 January.
This project is expected to finish on Friday 30 January and will require traffic management (involving closing one side of the road whilst the forestry team are on site and the use of traffic lights to regulate traffic through the remaining lane) for the duration of the work given the proximity to the public highway, and the equipment that will be needed to safely carry out these works.
The District Council would like to apologise in advance for any disruption these necessary works may cause, but will look to keep these to a minimum where possible.
The tree works will be carried out in partnership with Warwickshire County Councils Forestry team and work has been ongoing to identify and monitor the trees prior to these works, with the main aim of removing diseased and defective trees that have a very real risk of falling in bad weather or if the ground becomes waterlogged. Following on from this there will be some housekeeping work to manage the remaining trees and give them a healthy future as well as improving this gateway to the town.
These tree works will be similar to the works carried out 2 years ago further up the Shipston Road past the Clifford Chambers turning.
This work also fits in with the rejuvenation of the Tramway Walk alongside it, and the remaining tree works and planting along this path will be carried out in mid-February so that the scenic walk can come to life for the summer with picturesque views of Holy Trinity Church and the Recreation Ground.
